Most of the anxiety around a Tirupati trip comes down to one question: how do I get darshan without losing a whole day in a queue? Here is the plain version, using what the official TTD sources confirm.
Step 1 — pick your darshan
- In a hurry / want certainty: book the paid Special Entry Darshan online in advance.
- On a budget / flexible on time: free Sarva Darshanam — expect a variable wait.
- Fit to climb: take a footpath up and get the free Divya Darshan.
- Senior citizen or differently-abled: use the free special darshan (Monday–Saturday, 3:00 PM), spouse only as attendant.
Step 2 — book on the official portal
Use only the official TTD channels: ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in or the TTD app. The online quota is released well in advance and popular dates go quickly — set a reminder for the release and be ready.
Avoid third-party “agents” promising guaranteed slots — book direct with TTD.
Step 3 — carry the right ID
Bring the government photo ID (Aadhaar) used at the time of booking. Biometric / photo verification applies at reporting, and traditional dress is expected, especially for the Special Entry Darshan.
